Ross Hayward

I retired from the Department of Education and Training after 37 years of service to various school communities in Geelong and Werribee. My final position was Principal of Hamlyn Banks Primary School where I completed 8 years in that role. I currently work as a Sessional Tutor at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds Campus. My focus is working with 4th year students to prepare them for their future role as teachers.

I have developed a wide range of skills and knowledge regarding Restorative Practices in the Primary School setting and I have undertaken a study tour to the United Kingdom to further my knowledge in this area.

I have a strong commitment to the development of quality relationships as a key factor in educational practice. I see student wellbeing as a crucial element of the education process.
During my career I have taken an active role in School Councils both as a teacher and as a Principal. I understand that an effective and committed School Council is essential to the success of a dynamic and successful school community.
